UPDATE as at 17/02/2021: We are excited to confirm that the Otway Odyssey and GOGG events are proceeding this Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st February!! This go ahead is based upon the updated restrictions announced by Premier Dan Andrews this morning. YAHOO!!The events will be delivered as explained in the Event Programs circulated last week with 2 notable changes:

– All riders must wear a face mask whilst waiting to start in the start chute. Face masks may be removed once under way.
– All event attendees must wear a face mask unless you can maintain social distancing whilst at the event

We may also need to start the races in waves – we will clarify this and advise any updates prior to the event

All entrants will be emailed with further confirmation and encourage interstate competitors especially to check your inbox for your options. Otherwise we are continuing as planned and are really excited that the race can go ahead this weekend. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during this extraordinary period. It’s going to be a huge weekend!

Ride a magical line through the Otway Ranges

When it comes to gravel grinding this is A-grade riding on A-grade dirt roads made accessible to all types of riders.

Escape the asphalt and dig-the-dirt of traffic free roads as they wind through tall timber forests and massive tree fern, past lookouts, lakes and beaches on a magical ride with plenty of fresh air.

Now in its 5th year, the GOGG is fast gaining recognition as one of Australia’s best gravel events. Join us in 2021.

  > Spectacular dirt roads with no traffic
  >> Time-out Zones and coffee stops
  >>> Suitable for all types of bikes – road, MTB, gravel & cyclo-cross riders.

The GOGG is held in conjunction with the Otway Odyssey MTB Marathons (on Saturday) making an incredible double header weekend for any rider.

COVID AWARE: Rapid Ascent is very aware of the COVID-19 situation and are staying up to date with relevant authorities, regulations and the road-map to re-opening.
We are confident the Great Otway Gravel Grind will go ahead as planned in 2021 (and in line with associated COVID Safe proceedures). Our approach has always been to pursue every oppportunity for the event to be able to go ahead and to give the mountain biking community a chance to achieve their goals in what has been a roller coaster year.

“It doesn’t get much better than hitting the Great Ocean Road after a hard and fast descent through the rainforests, it is such a cool experience and I definitely want to see that again.” Jay Vine of Canberra, 2018 GOGG Champion.
